- The module was developed to support the teaching of blood gas analysis to candidates attending the Advanced Life Support course run by the Resuscitation Council.
- The material was written with medical students and allied medical health professionals in mind, although doctors taking professional exams may also find the content useful for revision purposes.
- The module benefits from three animations, which cleverly bring the Henderson-Hasselbalch equation to life, by using old-fashioned weighing scales to illustrate how blood pH is determined by the net effect of control exerted at the lungs and the kidneys.
- The module contains test questions with feedback for candidates to assess how well they have understood the content.
